London is a design-lovers dream with some of the best art galleries and museums in the world, as well as a huge community of renowned creatives. So, it makes sense that the city has its fair share of art hotels spread throughout all the cool, central districts. I’ve collected and curated some of the best and newest options that are worth checking out (and checking into) in 2015.
The Hoxton
The Hoxton hotel in Shoreditch is a mismatch of contemporary and vintage design, where each room boasts a different theme so no stay is ever the same. With rooms like the Hoxton Manor, which showcases pop art, exposed-brick walls, and brightly coloured furnishings, and The Nelson with arty carpets and unusual textile designs, there’s a little spark of creativity for every taste. Have a little browse around the rooms here.
Ham Yard Hotel
This hotel opened its doors in 2014, with a flurry of 91 rooms decked out by Kit Kemp and her award-winning kitsch British style. The mixture of apartments and suites are a colourful show of quirky textile patterns and bright, contemporary artwork. Check out the eye-catching decor here.
The Boundary
The Boundary offers an intimate hotel experience with just 12 rooms throughout the building. Each one is decorated in a different style, inspired by world-famous designers and artistic movements, including Joseph Hoffman’s monochromatic style and a colourful, block-print room dedicated to the Bauhaus era. Take a look at all the rooms here.
The Artist Residence
Located in the quirky Pimlico district of London, the Artist Residence features a mishmash of design styles with quirky details. Rooms are cosy and unique with ambient lighting, walls filled with artwork, and colourful patterned furnishings. Explore the small townhouse here.
Charlotte Street Hotel
This is another offering by British designer Kit Kemp. The 52 rooms are decked out in her quirky, patterned style with oodles of colour and a mixture of textures. The series of suites all have their own cosy living areas with great views out across the city. Browse the quirky design styles here.
Rough Luxe Hotel
This classy shabby-chic hotel combines modern art with rare artefacts, creating an emporium of old wooden furniture, exposed-brick walls and colourful contemporary artworks. Each rooms is decked out differently, with an equal amount of old and new clashing to create a brand new coveted style. Take a look at the vintage-meets-modern style here.
They look amazing! Did you get the chance to stay in any of them? How much of the UK outside of London have you had a chance to see?
They do look good, right?! I’m from Brighton originally, so I’ve seen a lot of the South coast… Cornwall… Devon… Hampshire… I lived in Canterbury for a year as well. I’ve been to Ireland and Scotland, too
